Thank you to all the people that helped to make, drink, and have a blast at the Room 9 Summer BBQ Pot Luck Lemonade Stand!  With your help we raised enough money to subsidize the cost of the "book pack" for each student...from $69 to $20.  I have the whole Summer Reading Project ready to go.  You (the parent) can pick up the packs any time before school or at pickup.  You can even sponsor a student for an exciting summer of reading and writing.   If you have any questions about the Tournament...please check out the 2 pages call Tournament of Books House Bright or House Stars (each is a different set of books determined by DRA assessment data from the last trimester of second grade).  You can always stop by the classroom to check it out as well.  Thank you! Lemonade will be sold for $5 a "Sampling Cup"...You can use the cup to sample every flavor sold at the Potluck...as much as your thirst can handle...until we sell out!

Over the summer, Room 9 Kids will have the option of participating in the Tournament of Books.  This project is designed to have our students continue their reading momentum from the year.  Over the summer each student can loose up to three months of progress without any practice.  The Tournament of Books has the students read two books every 2 weeks...with a book review or book report type project in between.  Look out for more information coming soon...dates, responsibilities, and book buying options...

Tomorrow…you CAN…
 
Wear pajamas…robes….and regular shoes (for P.E. & recess)…you can bring slippers, but change into regular shoes when leaving the classroom.
 
You can also bring in…
 
A tent…only if it pops up! And is easy to put back…NO POLES…
 
You can bring in a SLEEPING BAG, PILLOW, & 1 (one) stuffed animal….
 
 BUT…
This is a day dedicated to reading…not fooling around with your friends!!!!!!!
 
Basically, you can be in a BOOK NOOK all day….except for Science, P.E., Music, ELD, and recess…if you read the entire day with repect for other readers…you can stay in at recess…to watch Horton Hears A Who and eat lunch.  There will also be breaks when a guest reader comes in to read a fun story to you…but then you can go back to reading!!!!  No Math!!!!But 5 times the math today!!!!! Just kidding!!! Or am I?????????
 
 
 
 

Daily Homework is still Reading for 20 - 30 minutes...then log onto Whoosteading.org to do the writing. There will be 6 “mini” assignments each week. There are questions to answer, quizzes to take, and a book review to complete. Some students may opt to complete the written homework...I will provide them with weekly pages or they can be downloaded off misterfranklin.com
